Why are my dimensioning tools giving...

I openend a new document and began drawing.. made a 3'' x 60'' rectangle, yet when I added a vertical dimension line, it read as 240'' high. The guide rulers and the info box all agree that the shape is 60'' high, and I haven't played with the scale tool. Other shapes are behaving similarly, with all dimension lines giving me a 3x bigger measurement. Could someone please tell me how to re-calibrate and get back to normal scaling?

Thanks!

Are you using multiple artboards? Have you reseted the 0,0 point at the top left corner of the rulers? Have you tried to start Illustrator with Alt+Command (Control) pressed to restore preferences?
