I have a computer where the user put both 8 and 10 on.?Unfortunately with IE8 every time the browser opens to a page with flash it freezes.
I am trying to uninstall 8 but the .msi file it was installed from was already deleted by the user.?The uninstall utility does not work.?It still shows in add/remove programs.?any ideas?
Uninstall macromedia flash player 8Download the Flash Player uninstaller from http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ - installation check http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157, then uninstall all Flash Player versions with this tool.?You will need to reinstall FP 10 after this.
Uninstall macromedia flash player 8You must have missed that we had already tried that unsuccessfully in the initial posting.?Any other ideas?

When you say ''The uninstall utility does not work'', does that mean it didn't uninstall FP 8??Are the files still there??If so, close all browser windows before running the uninstall utility.
P.S. publishing your email address in a public forum is never a good idea.
All browsers were closed, no messengers open, no processes running that utilize the active x, yet the files under C:\windows\system32\flash\ were still there.?The detail box said remove on reboot.
The main problem was the registry was corrupt.?I was not able to roll back the registry to a previous restore point due to Norton being installed.?It failed no matter what was tried.?I gave up for a few hours until it dawned on me that I had another boot disk that I could boot from to roll the registry back to before the installation of Macromedia Flash 8.?I tried it and it worked, I am just spending some time updating windows and some other apps and it's done.
Thank you very much for all your help and great ideas.?I don't think I ever paid that much attention to what active x did in the machine but it's been quite a learning experience.
