License Maganer

Just upgraded to windows 7 (work for a big company so we got the OEM) now I get the License manager every time I lanuch any adobe program. how do I stop this

License Maganer

It has to to with the permission level.?Not sure of exact proceedure, but seems like I read in a post awhile back that you have to turn off the windows User Account Control, make the entry for licence data, and then turn back on the UAC.

License Maganer

Thanks but it also does it on XP which has no UAC, don't understand what you;re saying, have you used windows 7, where is that setting you;re talking about?

This has been a complaint with some users.?I appologize I don't remember exactly the steps to solve problem,?but the way I remember it, it had to to with permission to enter the licence data. Even if you entered the data if you did not have the correct permissoin level it would not record it for the next boot up.

The users had repeated requests to enter licence info. on startup.?Perhaps some else will have a better memory of the issue.

The search engine on Adobe is poor, but might have better luck with google.

You might want to check if you have administrative rights on the computer.

I do have administrative rights, this happened after I upgraded, don;t know what else to do, I misgr just re-install, it's so damn annoying especially when you paid for this version. Funny how adobe ignores this issue

You said your logged in as administrator so that is good.

Good idea to defrag the hard drive to stuff so not scattered all over the place Don't degrag if SSD).

Check msconfig and ensure that there are no adobe programs already running as in reader and such. If you see anything adobe running stop it and reboot.

Don't turn off UAC

Turn off any anti-virus software and windows defender

Go into services.msc and put windows installer into auto mode and start the service.

There was no need to turn off windows 7 firewall.

Ensure your connected to the internet for the serial number to validate.

You have to run the .exe file as administrator in Windows 7. If you have a disk then explore the disk and look for the .exe file. If it is a download run it in a folder on the desktop and run the 7z (I think the is the .exe file, can't remember) as Admin. There should be only 2 files in the folder and one is the .exe

When it extracts only install PS CS4 and Bridge. You can install AIR and Adobe reader off the Adobe website later if you wish.

Just like in Vista (not sure about XP) PS CS4 will hang at about 90 percent as it slowly installs. Not sure why, it just does.

When your done with the install, reboot.

Make sure the first time you run PS CS4 you run the software as Admin (just like Vista).

Update PS to 11.0.1

I would defrag too as good common practice after install.

If you have a second internal hard drive make that your CS4 scratch disk to speed thins up.

I am not sure how far you got with the other install attempt but you may need to run the CS4 cleaner to get the stuff out of the hive.

Update video card drivers for windows 7. I know from reading some posts that some nvidia cards still act weird with windows 7 and the drivers did not fix it.

I can tell you that the ATI driver package 9.9 is stable with the ATI 4870 and PS CS4.

If you have problems with windows 7 and CS4 I would not depend on windows 7 alone. I have 2 computers and figured I would give windows 7 a try with CS4 but always had Vista on the other machine to back me up in case of a jam.

Edit: Also, only install PS CS4 on C drive
