CF4.5 & Access 2007

Is it possible to use an Access 2007 database on a networked drive as a datasouce for 4.5?

Thanks!

CF4.5 %26 Access 2007

Good question! I have only used 2003 accessdatabases with the ''.mdb'' file extension.

If I ever get time, i will try 2007

CF4.5 %26 Access 2007

What happened when you tried it?

Sure it is possible.

The most likely point of difficulty is that a default ColdFusion installation on a Windows server will run under the ''localsystem'' user.?This user generally has a high level of permisssions to any resource on the local machine, but no permissions to any other network resource.

But it is quite easy to modify the user that ColdFusion runs under to give it other permissions.

I haven't even tried it since I can't seem to find anything saying that Access 2007 can be used on anything earlier than 8 (http://forums.adobe.com/message/588668#588668).?I was just wondering if anyone knew.?If I could find hope that it worked prior to 8 I would probably take the extra effort to find out.

You might have to update the database driver that shipped with that old of a version of ColdFusion.

The name of the table, i think, is irrelevant. i did change the name, but still could not make updates.

The problem was that I had not given the default (IWM_Plesk) user permissions to write to the database.

I've now done that and its ok....for now!

Thanks for your interest
