Sadly Adobe have persisted with having to open the programme via an intermediate screen. Is it possible to set up a short cut to open directly into Organiser? Many thanks
PSE 8 opening screenYes
On the welcome screen, You click on the icon like a grid on top right and you choose
in french ''Toujours lancer elements organizer derri鐚玶e l'鑼卌ran de bienvenue''
In english, maybe ''always open elements organizer after welcome screen''
That's all folk !

PSE 8 opening screenUnfortunately, Roy Shopland,
Doesn't work like that on my English version;?just says (and setsup as) 'open organiser behind welcome'
Sure is a great idea to find a way to go straight to the organiser

Create shortcuts direcly to the Organizer and Editor, as described here:

Wow!?John R. Ellis
You sure know the right buttons to push.?
Now, I am finding, so far, everything is telling me ''works for 7 and 8''.?However, I found it exceedingly difficult to relate some of the instructions in 'getting started' to my newly installed PSE 8.
I sure don't want to go down the road of 'tinkering, beyond the possibility of restoring back to pre-tinkering'.
Your comments on the subject would be most welcome and I am sure extremely enlightening.

Thanks John for the link. When I go into C:....Photoshop Elements I can see a line for Editor with a blue symbol to the left which can be dragged onto the desktop to create a short cut into Editor. However try as I might I cannot find a similar line for Organiser and it this screen that I wish to use for opening Elements 8. I expect I am missing something obvious but can you help further? I am using Vista 64 bit. Many thanks.
I haven't updated the FAQ for PSE 8, which stores PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe in a different folder:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Elements Organizer 8.0 or
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements Organizer 8.0
With PSE 8, Adobe has separated the Editor from the Organizer (different program folders, different Help files).?(Perhaps they're getting ready to stop further development?)

Thanks John. Interestingly, although Organiser opens in the background the welcome screen also opens and needs to be deleted each time.
Many thanks for your assistance.
Thanks John. You are absolutely right - again!!! Shortcut now opens directly into Organiser. Thanks for your help and patience. Regards.
